We're back! And we have some Halloween themed specimens this week. First up is the Medicinal Leech. The first description of leech therapy, classified as blood letting, was found in the text of Sushruta samhita (dating 800 B.C.) Medicinal leeches are now making a comeback in microsurgery. They provide an effective means to reduce blood coagulation and to relieve venous pressure from pooling blood.
